What's the best American punk album?

The Mats get Ejected

The Replacements' first gig was in June of 1980 at an alcohol-free coffee-house in the basement of a Minneapolis church. They were so nervous that they got drunk on whiskey-and-Cokes--and took some pills. When someone smelled alcohol on their breath, they were thrown out of the building and told they'd never play Minneapolis again!

What a Deal!

Jawbreaker's highly influential 1994 album, 24 Hour Revenge Therapy, only cost the band $1,032 to record!

Dino gets Sued!

When the group formed, Dinosaur Jr. was originally called "Dinosaur" but later had to add the "Jr." after being sued by the supergroup The Dinosaurs which included members of Country Joe and the Fish, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Hot Tuna, Grateful Dead, and Jefferson Airplane.

Straight-Edge and Meth?!

In addition to being one of the most influential and best straight-edge/hardcore bands of the late 80's, the term "gorilla biscuits" was also 80's street slang, originally referring to meth pills or quaaludes.

No more Stage Diving for Iggy?!!

On March 23, 2010 Iggy Pop, the self-proclaimed inventor of the stage dive announced he would never stage dive again! The singer, 62, revealed he dived for the last time during a gig at New York's Carnegie Hall. However, none of the audience caught him, leaving The Stooges front man bruised.
Before SST was known as a punk/hardcore label, founder Greg Ginn, at age 12, created Solid State Transmitters as a mail-order business that sold modified WW2 surplus radio equipment.
According to Dee Dee Ramone, when the Ramones were backstage before a performance, as a joke they would piss in any beverage they would serve visitors or fans. One time, they served Johnny Rotton a "piss bear" in which he drank down in one gulp!

Ballot Result!

The Minutemen printed ballots in which they passed out to fans during their summer and fall 1985 performances. On the ballots were songs their fans would vote on to appear on their live album "Ballot Result". "Ballot Result" was released in 1987 with over 69:06 minutes of live music of fan chosen songs!
